BOSTON — On Monday, September 14, 2026, at the Paul S. Russell, MD Museum of Medical History and Innovation at Massachusetts General Hospital, Mass General Brigham and Home Base celebrated the Thomas C. Werner Endowed Chair for Military Health, which honored inaugural incumbent Kaloyan Tanev, MD, MPH.

The event kicked off with a welcome reception, followed by a speaking program featuring:

• Michael Allard, Chief Operating Officer, Home Base
• Dr. Maurizio Fava, Chair of Psychiatry, Mass General Brigham
• William Radcliffe, a grateful Home Base participant, who was joined by his wife, Maria
• Tom Werner, Chairman, Boston Red Sox and Red Sox Foundation, who was joined by his wife, Dr. Jennifer Ashton
• Dr. Kalo Tanev, Chief Medical Officer and Chief Scientific Officer, Home Base, who was joined by his wife, Dr. Rupa Mukherjee-Tanev

The speaking program concluded with a gift presentation, including an engraved Simon Pearce glass clock for Dr. Tanev and inscribed Simon Pearce bookends, a book personally selected and inscribed by Dr. Tanev, and a chair created by the North Bennet Street School for Werner.

This incredible milestone marks the first-ever endowed chair in Home Base history.
