A 2-week intensive clinical program can be… intense  – and is hard work. And as a complement to any mental health treatment, it’s horses that for more than 60 years has been introduced to the therapeutic mix. We learn from guest Amy Mullin that equine-assisted activities and therapy are about connection and control. And after a typical session there is a sort of Zen-like atmosphere she always witnesses – not just for the person or group, but for the horses too. There are more and more data to support its true efficacy in PTSD, ADHD, Autism, CP, SUD and other common challenges. Amy is President of Winsome Riding Academy in Franklin, MA. She is an instructor certified in the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH), providing therapeutic horseback riding. It’s clear that Amy and her team’s passion for healing others feels full circle with veterans and servicemembers at Home Base, who they strongly feel have helped all of us.
