Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies

At Home Base, we are committed to advancing evidence-based, Veteran-centered care that meets the evolving needs of those who have served. The building of our Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies (PAT) program represents an important step in expanding the full spectrum of treatment options available to Veterans who have not found relief through traditional approaches.

PAT specialists Dr. Trevor Taylor and Eliza Palandjian, MA, bring clinical expertise, compassion and innovation to the development of this program, ensuring all Veterans have access to all the care options they need and deserve.

Our program is positioned as a vanguard site for Veteran PAT, opening and advancing three distinct pillars—clinical care, research, and education and training—to expand access safely and responsibly to approved treatments and to investigate potential breakthrough therapies for Veterans and their Families.

Current initiatives:

  • Individual Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP):
    • Individual treatment for Veterans with depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, and/or grief.
  • Group Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy:
    • Specialized group-based programming for military spouses with depression, anxiety, secondary trauma, stress, and/or grief.

Future directions: Scaling KAP services with the highest priority for Veteran safety. Continuing to build the infrastructure for our clinical program to work safely with the next generation of approved psychedelic compounds.

Current initiatives:

  • Conjoint MDMA-Assisted Therapy for Veteran Couples:
    • A pilot study exploring conjoint (couples-based) MDMA-assisted therapy for Veterans with PTSD and their partners, paired with brain imaging to better understand how healing together as a couple may support recovery. Funded by Fisher House.
  • Group-Based MDMA-Assisted Therapy Within an Intensive Veteran Care Program:

Future directions: Actively exploring research collaborations and developing proposals to study additional psychedelic compounds and their potential therapeutic use for Veterans and their Families. Interested in collaborating? Reach out to mghhomebasepat@mgb.org.

Current initiatives: Creating Veteran-specific educational content, resource guides, and provider training materials to represent the unique needs of Veterans and their Families.

Future directions: Supporting internal and external training for therapists and support staff, including KAP training for Home Base individual, couples, and family therapists.
