Home Base Florida Celebrates a Successful Summer Season of Adventure Series

Home Base Florida’s Adventure Series has brought Veterans, Service Members, Military Families, and community partners together across Florida this summer through a variety of outdoor, wellness, and recreational experiences. From beach cleanups and pickleball in Northwest Florida to kayaking, golf, sightseeing cruises, jiu jitsu, and yoga with animals in Southwest Florida, each event has offered participants a chance to connect, build community, and enjoy meaningful time together in a supportive environment.

Our NWFL Adventure Series recently partnered with Ocean Hour for a beach cleanup on Pensacola Beach, bringing Veterans, Service Members, and Military Families together to care for our community while building new connections.

Our SWFL Veterans Golf League continues to heat up becoming one of our most popular Adventure Series programs this summer, bringing Veterans together for great golf, new friendships, and plenty of laughs both on and off the course.

In July, 32 Veterans and Military Families joined Home Base and Matt’s Beach Shack for an unforgettable sunrise kayaking adventure, paddling through the peaceful waters of Southwest Florida while enjoying beautiful views and even better company.

Other Adventure Series highlights from this summer:

  • SWFL Veterans and their Families joined Home Base and community partner, Freedom Waters Foundation, for a relaxing sightseeing cruise.
  • Home Base Adventure Series participants headed to Portside Pickle in Pensacola for an afternoon of pickleball, connection, and waterfront fun.
  • Home Base Florida partnered with Elev8 Grappling to host SWFL Veterans and First Responders Intro to Jiu Jitsu Class Adventure Series. Together, participants learned new skills, built confidence, and connected through movement and community. Events like these remind us that healing and resilience can be built both on and off the mat.
  • Home Base Florida teamed up with Empowerment Farm to offer a free “Yoga with the Animals” Adventure Series for SWFL Veterans and their Families. Combined with the calming environment of the farm and time spent with animals, this event created an opportunity to focus on both wellness and community.

The Adventure Series joins Veterans, Service Members, Military Families and Families of the Fallen in bonding activities before, during and after a loved one’s deployment. At our events, Warriors, their families and Families of the Fallen have the opportunity to enjoy an exciting activity and meet peers with shared experiences while learning about the world-class, direct clinical care, wellness, education and research offered by Home Base.

Home Base collaborates with businesses, nonprofits and community organizations in each of our four regions – New England, Florida, Arizona and Texas – to host events, which have included skiing, ice skating, museum visits, sporting events and much more. These events are not only free to participants, but also open to both adaptive and able-bodied participant
