Copperleaf Charitable Foundation Continues Its Investment in Healing Veterans
Copperleaf Charitable Foundation (CCF), a non-profit organization that collects and distributes funds for food, education and health care for the benefit of local charities and Copperleaf Golf Club’s surrounding communities, has rallied behind the mission of Home Base Florida since 2016.
They fundraise throughout the year through a variety of activities including an appreciation golf tournament and an annual appeal to its members. In addition, they help support the wellness of Veterans in our programs by offering opportunities to learn and play golf on their beautiful course. The fundraising year culminates in a grant to support specific, critical needs in the region.
“We have over 40 Veterans who are members at Copperleaf Country Club, and beyond them, all of us have cherished Veterans in our lives who have selflessly supported our country,” said Copperleaf Charitable Foundation President Bill Starr. “We are forever grateful and honored to support them as they’ve supported us.”
Free Veteran Golf Lessons
For the last several years, Copperleaf Golf Club’s professional golf staff has expanded its support of the Home Base mission by hosting Veterans in our programs for 4-weeks of golf lessons led by PGA Professionals trained in adaptive golf and military cultural competency. CCF donates the course, use of golf clubs, and their professional staff instructor time to host the lessons.

Grant Funding
CCF has increased its support to Home Base year over year. In the last eight years, they have granted Home Base Florida more than $172,000 to support the most pressing needs of local Veterans. Their most recent $50,000 grant will help expand clinical programming by funding 50% of the salary to hire a new clinical manager.
“Home Base provides a much-needed service for America’s Veterans that the VA cannot provide,” added Starr. We know the needs are critical and have been markedly increasing yearly. To know we can make such a big difference for those who have made sacrifices for us is huge for our volunteers and donors and motivates our continued commitment to Home Base and its clients.”
CCF grants have helped Home Base Florida reach more Veterans and Military Families in need through increased awareness, community outreach and program expansion.
“Home Base Florida has seen a surge in demand for services. Thanks to foundations like CCF, we can continue our mission as a community empowerment model,” said Senior Director of Home Base Florida Armando Hernandez Armando Hernandez. “This donation is a testament to the power of community support for those who have sacrificed for our country. Together, we can make a difference in their lives.”
