Home Base Florida Kicks Off Fall Events Season
Upcoming Events
Events season is almost here in Florida. As summer travel winds down, kids go back to school and our seasonal residents, affectionately known as “snowbirds”, return, Home Base Florida ramps up its event season inviting the community along with our Veteran participants and their Families to join us for feel-good, wellness-based activities that raise critical funding for our mission and those we serve.
Our Fall event season kicks off next month with a golf tournament that commemorates the September 11th terrorist attacks and ends with a Veterans Day-themed pickleball tournament. We are grateful to our community partners for the good old fashion fun, friendly competition, comradery and life-saving funding these upcoming events provide.
September 7, 2024 | Copperleaf Golf Adventure Series & Veteran Appreciation Tournament
8:30 am Shotgun Start
The Copperleaf Charitable Foundation (CCF) will provide an Adventure Series for 30 of our Veterans to participate in a day of golf with Copperleaf Golf Club members followed by lunch, drinks and prizes for the top winning teams. This annual tournament is held in remembrance of the September 11th terrorist attacks and honors Veterans for their valued service. To date, CCF has contributed $172,000 to our mission through a variety of annual fundraising activities and gives back to Veterans in our programs through this tournament as well as free golf lessons.
“CCF partners with Home Base Florida every year just before the difficult anniversary of September 11, which can trigger Veteran PTSD and increase Veteran suicides,” said Copperleaf Charitable Foundation President Bill Starr. “Our event provides a much-needed “hug” for our Veterans who struggle around this time of year, and hopefully gives them a little peace in the knowledge that they are embraced with appreciation and gratitude.”

“Through community partnerships and donor support, we are able to ensure trauma-informed, culturally-competent clinical care can be offered in a timely manner at absolutely no cost to Veterans and their Families,” said Senior Director of Home Base Florida Armand Hernandez. “Events like these allow us to bring Veterans and donors together to develop these public-private partnerships that allow us to meet the unique needs of Veterans in each community. We are very grateful for their ongoing support and investment in our mission.”
