Valspar Championship Provides Opportunity to Showcase Home Base Florida and Tampa General’s Commitment to Veterans’ Health and Wellness

The Valspar Championship, Tampa Bay’s PGA Tour event held at Innisbrook Golf Resort in March, provided a national spotlight and attracted a broad audience of more than 20k people including families, millennials, senior citizens, and hardcore golf fans to promote the great work being done for Florida Veterans.

The Valspar Championship and Copperhead Charities, the event’s sponsoring organization, brings a world-class professional sporting event to the Tampa Bay area with a charitable mission to use tournament proceeds to help meet community needs. The tournament has a deep history in supporting the men and women who have served our country.

Since 2021, the tournament proceeds have supported Home Base Florida and its clinical partner Tampa General Hospital’s (TGH) efforts to connect Tampa Bay area veterans with resources to support healthy habits and ways to build resiliency against post-traumatic stress, depression and anxiety. It provided $125,000 to spearhead the funding needed to launch veteran outreach services for the Home Base Warrior Fitness program at Tampa General. Since then, it has continued that unwavering support through annual charitable contributions.

At this year’s tournament, Home Base sponsored a hospitality tent and hosted more 40 supporters. In addition, all Active Duty Servicemen and Women and Veterans in attendance were given access to a special Veterans Outpost hospitality tent where Home Base Florida and TGH had a booth where it introduced those in attendance to the clinical and wellness programs available to them at no-cost.

Copperheads Charity Celebration will take place in the next several months where more than 50 area charities, including Home Base Florida, will be announced as beneficiaries of the 2025 tournament.
