Sakhi Chitalia

Sakhi Chitalia is a fourth-year doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at William James College and a clinical psychology trainee at Home Base. She earned her B.S. in health sciences from Boston University and her M.A. in professional psychology from William James College. Her clinical training has included work in community health, inpatient psychiatry, memory disorders, and eating disorder settings. Prior to joining Home Base, she completed clinical training at the Memory Disorder Clinic in the Jamaica Plain VA, where she gained experience in neuropsychological assessment. At Massachusetts General Hospital Revere Community Health Center, she provided evidence-based interventions to individuals experiencing mood, substance use, and chronic pain concerns.

At Home Base, Sakhi is interested in working with veterans and their families who are navigating the psychological and interpersonal effects of trauma. Her integrative clinical approach is grounded in psychodynamic and attachment-based perspectives while incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and motivational interviewing. She values developing trusting, collaborative therapeutic relationships and understanding each person within the context of their relationships and experiences.

Sakhi is drawn to clinical psychology because of the complexity and power of the human mind, the process of helping people make sense of their experiences, and the opportunity to support them in meaningful and effective ways. Her research interests focus on the relationship between trauma, social support, and psychotic symptoms and how interpersonal experiences may influence recovery from first-episode psychosis. Her broader clinical interests include trauma, eating disorders, chronic pain, and substance use.

Outside of Home Base, Sakhi enjoys dancing, painting, reading, hiking, exploring new foods, and spending time with friends and family.
