Maria Shea

Maria Shea is returning to Home Base as a Family Support Specialist.  She previously worked at Home Base from 2016-2020 as a Wellness Specialist and Meditation Guide as needed for Veterans, while also working for MGH in Cardiac Rehabilitation. 

Maria has a Master’s Degree in Health Science, with emphasis in Health Psychology. Maria holds a Teacher Training certificate in Yoga Nidra from Jennifer Reis of the Kripalu Institute, Resiliency training from the Benson Henry Institute, and Certified Cardiac Rehab Specialist.

Maria began her career in Cardiac Rehab, moving into various management positions in Healthcare, Fitness Management, and Hospitality Management, exploring Eastern Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine as Spa Director at Mandarin Oriental Boston and The Langham Boston.  In 2016, she returned to Cardiac Rehab at Massachusetts General Hospital, and was also involved with ongoing research projects within Cardiology.  She has now transferred full time to Home Base, where she hopes to fulfill her passion of helping Veterans and their families live their best lives.

Maria has two sons and lives in Boston, Massachusetts.  One of Maria’s sons is a US Army Veteran (Sergeant), having served deployments out of the 10th Mountain Division, two of which were in Afghanistan and Iraq.  Maria’s other son is completing his training at Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

While not working, you can find Maria with family, friends, on a yoga mat, or walking her dog along the Charles River.
