Jennifer Hoots

Dr. Jennifer Hoots is a Clinical Neuropsychologist at Home Base, where she partners with service members, veterans, and their families to support their brain-health goals. She works closely with each person to understand their concerns about thinking and memory, provide education, and build practical strategies that support brain health in daily life.

Dr. Hoots earned her bachelor’s degree at Cornell University and her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Illinois Chicago. Before graduate school, she held a postbaccalaureate research fellowship at the National Institute on Drug Abuse. She completed her predoctoral internship in neuropsychology at the Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital, with additional training in acute inpatient rehabilitation and substance use treatment. She then completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Clinical Neuropsychology Specialty Program at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University, providing neuropsychological assessment and cognitive rehabilitation for veterans at the Providence VA Medical Center and studying how we think and feel about our own cognition.

Dr. Hoots’ commitment to service members and veterans is deeply personal, shaped by her own family’s history of military service. Off the clock, Dr. Hoots is a nature lover and crafter at heart. You’re most likely to find her on a wooded trail, binoculars in hand and a freshly crocheted scarf around her neck.
