Sights and sounds from record-breaking 16th annual Run to Home Base presented by RTX
On July 26, 2025, 3,000 runners and walkers participated in the 16th annual Run to Home Base presented by RTX in person at historic Fenway Park and virtually around the country. To date, this year’s event has raised over $3.6 million — a record-breaking figure for our most critical annual fundraiser — in support of Home Base’s mission to heal the invisible wounds of war for Veterans, Service Members, Military Families and Families of the Fallen at no out-of-pocket cost to them.
8 a.m. | Opening Ceremony
The 2025 Run to Home Base began with a moving opening ceremony honoring Veteran and Service Member First Responders, emceed by Tom Caron, Host of Red Sox Studio Coverage, NESN. Featured speakers included:
- Tom Werner, Chairman, Boston Red Sox and Red Sox Foundation
- Major General Richard Johnson, Deputy Commanding General, Army National Guard, United States Army Forces Command
- Dr. Richard Carmona, 17th Surgeon General of the United States
- Bryan Rosselli, President, Advanced Products and Solutions, Raytheon, an RTX Business
- Retired Lieutenant General Walter E. Piatt, Chief Executive Officer, Wounded Warrior Project
- Retired Brigadier General Jack Hammond, Executive Director, Home Base
- Ezequiel “Zeek” Grimaldo, Graduate of the Home Bae Intensive Clinical Program




9:30 a.m. | 16th annual Run to Home Base presented by RTX
The race was emceed by Karen Anderson, Investigative Reporter, WCVB NewsCenter 5, who conducted interviews displayed on the jumbotron with participants after they crossed “home base,” including Red Sox Manager Alex Cora.







4 p.m. | Pregame Reception and Ceremony
In the evening, Home Base once again honored Veteran and Service Member First Responders with a pregame reception in the 521 Overlook and poignant on-field ceremony before the Red Sox mounted a comeback to defeat three-time Most Valuable Player Shohei Ohtani and the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers, 4-2.
