Home Base Florida Honored Veterans, Supporters, and Partners at Red Sox Spring Training Game at Fenway South
Through a donation from the Red Sox Foundation, HeadPinz Fort Myers and the Ciniello Family Trust, Home Base Florida honored more than 150 Veterans and their Families at a Red Sox Spring Training game at Fenway South in Fort Myers in March. Participants were given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to walk onto the field and take part in the pregame ceremony, during which their selfless sacrifice was recognized and applauded.

Army Veteran, First Sergeant Adam Engelhart, threw out the ceremonial first pitch and was privileged to kick off the game, officially declaring, “Play ball!” A video of Engelhart’s story played from the big screen where 9,000 fans heard about his experience in the military, his challenges transitioning to civilian life and how Home Base Florida helped him and his family – delivering an invaluable opportunity to spread awareness about the mission and our programs to those in the stands.
Dozens of Home Base Florida community champions were also on hand to enjoy the game and be celebrated for their support of Veterans including Home Base Florida strategic partner, Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), who was honored on the field with the General Fred Franks Award.

The unforgettable evening concluded with the Boston Red Sox prevailing over the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-1 at JetBlue Park at Fenway South and it a win-win for Veterans and our Founding partner!
