Setting Records and Building Community Support for Home Base Florida
The Naples Pickleball Center and Florida’s golf community joined forces to support Home Base Florida in a series of successful events, showcasing the power of sports to bring communities together and make a positive impact on the lives of Veterans and Their Families.
The Naples Pickleball Center hosted its annual Veterans Day TRIBUTE Tournament on November 10th and 11th, breaking records with an unprecedented 480 registrants. The vibrant event not only highlighted the community’s passion for pickleball but also aimed to support the causes of Home Base Florida and Warrior Homes of Collier County.
On the 10th, Home Base Florida took center stage, bringing together 14 teams comprised of Veterans and Family Members of Veterans. These teams engaged in their mini tournament alongside the main competition, creating an incredible adventure series filled with teamwork, camaraderie, and competitive spirit. The record-breaking attendance underscored the community’s strong support for the cause, with spectators witnessing thrilling matches that showcased the participants’ skill and dedication.
Home Base Florida expressed gratitude to sponsors, including Florida Gulf Coast University Marieb College of Health & Human Services, Capital Wealth Advisors, and Suffolk Construction, for making the event possible. The tournament’s success was also attributed to the dedicated Naples Pickleball Center staff, with special recognition extended to Holly Beacon for her continuous championing of Home Base Florida.
Meanwhile, Florida’s golf community contributed to Home Base Florida’s cause with successful tournaments. The golf day commenced with a patriotic display as golfers and Veterans gathered to present the colors, featuring a thrilling Fly Over by pilots from neighboring Wings South during the National Anthem.
As the year winds down, golf enthusiasts can anticipate a strong start to 2024, with Quail Creek Country Club hosting their 4th Annual Golf Tournament on February 3rd. This event will feature a unique twist, offering 9 rounds of golf followed by a concert featuring the Big Cypress Band and delectable food for golfers and outside guests alike.
