15th Annual General (Ret.) Fred Franks Golf & Family Day at Kensington Golf & Country Club Raises Over $250,000 for Home Base Florida
The 15th Annual General (Ret.) Fred Franks Golf & Family Day at Kensington Golf & Country Club was a resounding success, bringing together more than 300 supporters for a memorable day of connection, gratitude, and impact. This sold-out event featured a lively lineup of activities, including a shotgun-start golf tournament, lunch, and a wide range of family-friendly offerings—from fitness training, tennis, and pickleball lessons to swimming, bocce, and children’s games and crafts. More than 150 attendees were Veterans and their family members, underscoring the heart of the day’s mission.

A highlight of the event was the participation of 30 Veterans enrolled in Home Base Florida programs, who joined donor foursomes on the course. These meaningful pairings gave supporters a firsthand look at the life-changing impact of their generosity while fostering genuine connections with those they are helping to serve.

The day concluded with an awards reception honoring Southwest Florida Veterans, where golfers and their families gathered for a light buffet dinner, raffle and silent auction, and special recognitions. Guests also heard a powerful testimonial from U.S. Air Force Veteran Tyler King, a Home Base Florida program participant, whose story brought the mission to life in a deeply personal way.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of all involved, the event surpassed its fundraising goal, raising nearly $260,000 in support of the health and wellness of Florida Veterans and their families.
Over the past 15 years, the Kensington community has contributed more than $2 million to the Home Base mission. The tournament was founded by Fred Franks, Home Base Florida Honorary Director and longtime Kensington resident, who has served as event chair since its inception. The success of that first tournament helped launch Home Base Florida as the organization’s first regional program outside of Boston—an impact that continues to grow today.
This milestone year stands as a powerful testament to the unwavering commitment and patriotism of the Kensington community, whose support continues to make a lasting difference in the lives of Veterans and their families.
