Fitness WOD: Supplemental Total Body Workout for the Geriatric Population

Welcome Warriors! Our last workout in our Older Veteran Population Series! This is a total body workout. We are still focusing on mobility and flexibility through all 3 planes and functional training. The 3 workouts in the series can be executed every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. They were written for this purpose so hope you take advantage.

During our mobility and warm-up phase in this workout, we incorporate movements that combine two planes in what is known as Type 1 and Type 2 movements. These movements are a great way to increase range of motion and help with joint pain. A Type 1 movement is when your body bends to one side but rotates to the opposite side. A Type 2 movement is when your body bends AND rotates to the same side.

After warming up, we go through a circuit targeting major muscle groups. I hope you enjoy this workout along with the previous two and can begin noticing the difference in the way your body moves and joints interact during these movements. Let’s get it done for a feel-good day!
