Home Base Adventure Series: Overnight Mount Pierce Hike in New Hampshire with VOT48

Join Home Base and Veterans On The 48 for the third hike of our summer season! This is the only hike of our summer series that includes an overnight stay. Mount Pierce rises 4,310 feet in the Presidential Range of the White Mountains of New Hampshire, one of the most popular stretches of the Appalachian Trail. This is a challenging hike. Veterans On The 48 is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to getting more veterans outside and onto the trails to promote healthy lifestyles both physically and mentally. There are 48 mountains in NH that are over 4,000 feet high and many hikers set a goal of summiting all 48.

The hike will take place from the evening of Friday, June 30th to the evening of Saturday, July 1st. We will be meeting at the AMC Highland Center on Route 302 in Bretton Woods, NH 03574. On Friday, the group will gather at the Appalachian Mountain Club’s beautiful Highland Center. A delicious and nutritious dinner will be provided, followed by a Map and Compass class or a hiking movie. Sleeping arrangements are bunks with linens provided. The next day the group will wake early, enjoy a breakfast buffet, then set out on the Crawford Notch trail to Mount Pierce. The AMC will provide bag lunches and the hike will end around 3 pm on Saturday. It is also possible to take part in this hike without the overnight stay if you would like to arrive the morning of Saturday, July 1st. Limited transport from Boston to the Highland Center is available. This hike is veteran-only. Tickets are limited for this event and Home Base will likely run a lottery. Register by Friday, May 12th, at 5 pm for a chance to attend!
