Laura Harward, MSW, LICSW

Laura Harward, MSW, LICSW, has been at Home Base since 2015, leading the Intensive Clinical Program (ICP) since 2019. Laura completed her B.A. in Psychology, Summa Cum Laude, at Emory University in Atlanta, where she worked at Grady Hospital helping patients struggling with trauma and co-occurring conditions. After working as a Research Assistant at MGH, Laura entered the MSW program at Boston University, completing internships in geriatric trauma care and college counseling, before graduating in 2015. During her first 3 years at Home Base, Laura worked as a staff social worker in the ICP, assisting patients in case management, individual therapy, and group therapy. In 2018, Laura became the Associate Director of Social Work where she assumed administrative and supervisory responsibilities in addition to her clinical roles. In 2019, Laura became the Director of the ICP, providing clinical care in the forms of intake assessment, group therapy, case management, and crisis management, while also managing the ICP schedule, staffing, admissions, and program and policy development.

In addition to the day-to-day clinical and administrative responsibilities of the ICP, she has also been an integral member in advancing the reach of the Home Base ICP through stakeholder engagement. Laura has worked closely with the partner organizations, such as the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), Warrior Care Network (WCN), and the Veteran’s Administration (VA) to ensure that relationships with those organizations remain strong and collaborative in order to carry out the shared missions of those entities and Home Base. With these organizations, Laura helps facilitate consistent referral pipelines, programming, resource connection, and additional outlets of aftercare planning for veterans, service members, and their families.

Laura has also collaborated with the development and education teams to reach new and underserved populations and mitigate barriers to getting those populations into care at Home Base, such as Native and Indigenous veterans and service members. Laura is committed to continuing to foster these relationships, while continuing to grow the reach and effectiveness of the clinical care provided at Home Base.
