Karissa Peoples, LICSW

Karissa Peoples is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with nearly 15 years of experience supporting individuals through complex trauma, health challenges, and recovery. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work from The Ohio State University and her Master of Social Work with a clinical concentration from Boston College. Karissa began her career in advocacy and case management, working with survivors of assault and human trafficking. Initially planning to become a civil rights attorney, her experience providing support in aftercare facilities for trafficking survivors in Bangkok led her to clinical work where she found a stronger connection to her passion for supporting healing and long-term recovery. Before joining Home Base, Karissa worked in a range of high-acuity settings, including inpatient care for individuals with end-stage organ failure, as well as intensive outpatient and clinic-based services for those managing PTSD and substance use disorders. She brings a trauma-informed, culturally responsive approach to her work with military service members, veterans, and their families. Karissa is honored to be part of the Home Base team and is committed to supporting service members from all backgrounds—helping restore a sense of safety, stability, and hope in the face of life’s toughest challenges.
