Darshan Mehta, MD, MPH

Darshan Mehta received his BA in Biology from Illinois Wesleyan University and an MD from University of Texas-Southwestern Medical School. He completed his residency in internal medicine at University of Illinois-Chicago Hospital. He completed a clinical research fellowship in complementary and integrative medicine at the Harvard Medical School Osher Research Center, during which he received a MPH degree from HSPH.  He is presently the Medical Director of the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine at MGH, and the Education Director for the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at Brigham & Women’s Hospital. He presently directs medical student and resident rotational experiences in integrative medicine, and sees patients in a consultative role for use of complementary and integrative medical therapies, as well as mind body interventions for stress management and stress reduction.  Through support from the leadership in the Departments of Medicine and Psychiatry, Darshan has co-developed and delivered stress management and resiliency training for healthcare providers and trainees.  Beginning April 1, Darshan began to serve as Interim Director for the newly created Office for Well-Being with the Center for Faculty Development at MGH; this office functions to support faculty and trainees across the career span to increase resilience and create a positive work culture.  At Harvard Medical School, he leads a well-being curriculum required for all 1st-year HMS students.  In addition, he was recently appointed as the MGH Site Director for the Practice of Medicine curriculum; this longitudinal year long course focuses on the fundamentals of doctoring—from interviewing and communication skills to physical exam and clinical diagnosis.

At Home Base, Darshan conducts medical evaluations for patients entering the ICP program.  In addition, he has helped lead educational sessions on stress reduction for veterans in the community, and has participated in some of the research activities alongside colleagues.
