Peaks with a Purpose is an annual event in which Jason Trevisan, Chief Executive Officer of Cambridge, MA-based CarGurus, and his sons ski to raise charitable funds. This year – on Friday, March 17 – the father-sons trio aims to ski 40,000 vertical feet at Killington Resort and raise $7,000 in support of Home Base. Additionally, several other skiers and snowboarders will join them with goals of reaching 300,000 vertical feet and $20,000 as a team. ⛷️ To make a donation, please visit spot.fund/vhf8xsc.

Hear Jason’s Story:

Welcome to the second year of our Peaks with a Purpose fundraiser! This started three years ago when my son, Luke, and I started using apps to track our ski stats and thought it would be fun to challenge ourselves to hit certain milestones, which led to a crazy goal to ski 40,000 vertical feet in a day. So last year we skied 42k feet in one day at Alta, raised over $9k for Sunflowers of Peace which helps provide medical and humanitarian aid to Ukraine, and had a blast. The pic above was taken that day.

This year we’re trying to grow Peaks with more adventurers and more fundraising so we’ve already got about ten others who’ll be skiing/boarding at various mountains around the country on or around March 17th. Our goal is to raise $7k again ourselves and a total of $20k as a Peaks II Team to support Home Base, which Luke describes here:

We have chosen Home Base for our charity this year. I first learned of the foundation through a conversation with a veteran I have gotten to know during my time volunteering at the American Heritage Museum. Especially with the recent findings on the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on veterans, including higher mortality rates and mental health struggles, I think that it is important to support our veterans who have fought and sacrificed for our country. Founded in 2009, Home Base is dedicated to healing the invisible wounds and trauma of war for all veterans. They provide clinical care and education and fund research to advance what healthcare providers of all types can do to help struggling veterans. Since its inception, Home Base has been able to directly support over 30,000 veterans as well as their families and train over 85,000 clinicians on unique training to help veterans.

On Friday, March 17th, my sons Luke and Nate, and I will aspire to conquer 40k feet at Killington. If we happen to fall short, then on top of my primary donation I’ll donate an additional $1 for every foot shy we are of 40k. If you’d like to support us and our cause, please donate any amount you can. If donating through a Donor Advised Fund, you can do so directly through your provider using Home Base’s tax ID of 04-1564655. Just as importantly, please pass this link along to your friends/family who enjoy skiing/boarding or have a vested interest in supporting our veterans who’ve given so much to our country and are suffering from the tragic effects of war.

No matter how you support us, we thank you dearly and will circle back to all those involved with the results of our adventure and the positive impact we all will have made.
