Home Base has launched the country’s first two-week Intensive Clinical Program (ICP) to treat Veterans and Families who are struggling with the Invisible Wounds of War, including Post-Traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injury, Military Sexual Trauma, Depression, Anxiety and co-occurring substance use disorders. Based in Boston, but serving Veterans and Families from across the country, the Intensive Clinical Program offers a holistic and innovative approach to clinical care that includes:

  • Comprehensive Evaluation
  • Individual Treatment
  • Group Therapy
  • Stress Reduction and Resiliency
  • Fitness & Nutrition
  • Family Support & Education
  • Integrative Therapies such as yoga, art & Tai Chi
  • Social activities

The Home Base ICP is staffed by Massachusetts General Hospital clinicians and fitness and nutrition experts, all of whom who are trained in military culture and specialize in treating the Invisible Wounds of War. In addition, Post-9/11 Veterans & Blue Star Family members serve as patient navigators for Veterans and Families enrolled in the program.

Transportation, lodging and meals are covered for a participating Veteran and an accompanying Family Member. For those who have insurance, the treatment costs will be billed; however the Veterans will never have co-pays or further out of pocket costs. For those without insurance, full treatment is still available. Veterans and Families will never be denied based on their ability to pay.

Who is eligible?

All Post-9/11 Veterans and Service Members with the above service related injuries are considered, regardless of discharge status.

How much does it cost?

Basic food, lodging and transportation expenses are provided to participating Veterans and one accompanying Family member, should they choose to attend. Insurance, if you have it, will be billed, but co-payments and remaining balances after insurance payments for services provided in the ICP are covered.

What will be the plan for care?

Veterans and their Families work with our clinical team to determine an individualized plan for each person.

Is family included?

Family members are an integral part of the healing process and will be encouraged to participate in treatment coordination and other program offerings.
