Home Base has had an incredible year of exciting growth and innovation and as we look toward 2018, we have some exciting community and fundraising events slated for the year ahead.

7th Annual Family & Golf Outing at Kensington

Preparations are already underway for this spring’s annual Family & Golf Outing at the Naples Kensington Golf & Country Club. Hosted by Home Base Honorary Director and 4-star U.S. Army General (ret.) Fred Franks and the Kensington community,  the annual fundraiser event has been revamped to include a tennis competition as well as golf. This fundraising event enables Veterans and Service Members to participate in Home Base’s Warrior Health & Fitness Program in Southwest Florida and the two-week Intensive Clinical Program (ICP) in Boston, MA. On the outside, the event is a golf tournament, but each swing of the club is a force easing Veterans back into a normal life.


Ice Hockey Stars for Wounded Warriors

The Military and Civil Service Adult Hockey Tournament will take place the weekend of May 28-20 in Lake Worth, Florida.  Teams can register to play for $1,500 and $500 for the Sled Hockey Tournament Division.  Entry into tournament includes: One game Friday, two games Saturday, Playoffs on Sunday (4 teams), referees, scorekeepers, and a party on both Friday and Saturday night.  Additional events include: A fishing trip, golf on Friday, a chili/grilling cook-off, kids shootout, T-shirt swap, raffle prizes and more! All proceeds from this tournament will benefit Wounded Warrior Project and Home Base, a Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Program.  For more information, please visit

5th Annual Pocasset Golf Tournament

Tee off in support of their military community during the 5thAnnual Home Base Golf Outing at the Pocasset Golf Club on Monday, May 21. Organized by Darrin Lang and Seth Burr of LABUR, LLC in Boston, the event raises funds to support the clinical care and support services provided by Home Base, a Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Program. To date, the event has raised more than $50,000 for Home Base. Golfers are invited to attend the Home Base reception and dinner immediately following the tournament, joined by Veterans and Home Base Leadership. Warped Pours

The 1st Annual Warped Pours is a Homebrew Festival and Competition at the KOA Campground, featuring multiple Homebrew clubs, pouring 2 oz. samples of beer for guests.  There will be a raffle and prizes throughout the day.  All proceeds from this event will benefit the Law Enforcement Officer Support Foundation and Home Base.

7th Annual 1st Lt. Derek Hines Flag Day 5K

Registration is now open for the 7th Annual 1st Lt. Derek Hines Flag Day 5K,  held by the 1st LT Derek Hines Soldiers Assistant Fund. The fund was established by the family of Derek Hines—a Newburyport native—after he was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2005. The organization provides financial assistance for Massachusetts veterans and their families who have incurred serious, career ending, and life altering injuries while on active duty. Proceeds from this year’s race be donated to Home Base. The race will once again go through the beautiful town of Newburyport and will end at Cashman Park. The race will be followed up by a post-race party that will include food and drinks along with live entertainment from Dalton and the Sheriff’s. Register here.

Big Game Battle

In its 17th Anniversary, Big Game Battle has chosen to support Home Base through their offshore sport fishing tournament. Fifty boats will fish East or South of the historic Island of Nantucket for a wide variety of game fish from Bluefin, Yellowfin, Albacore, Mahi Mahi, Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Big Eye and more. They support the competition between the boats and crews, however, the most important goal is to have a fun weekend away with friends and go home with many memorable stories. The New Balance Falmouth Road Race

New this year: Home Base has been selected as a charity partner for the 2018 New Balance Falmouth Road Race and has been granted 15 charity bibs. Though the essence of the event remains a fun run, more than 11,000 runners will gather in Woods Hole for one of the most popular summer races on the South Shore , including many of the world’s elite. TCS New York City Marathon

3rd Annual Pelican’s Nest Golf Tournament

Pelican’s Nest Golf Club will hold its third annual golf tournament to benefit Home Base and its work with Southwest Florida veterans. Pelican’s Nest Golf Club, a private, member-owned club, has opened the Home Base tournament to all Southwest Florida residents in support of veterans in the community. Kathy Swift, a resident at Pelican Landing and the head volunteer for the golf outing, is one of the driving forces behind adding this fall golf outing to support local veterans. She is also the mother of a post-9/11 veteran.
