A MESSAGE FROM OUR HOME BASE LEADERSHIP
The ensuing peaceful protests across the country and here in Massachusetts have shown that silence on the topic of racial justice only allows the status quo to continue. The impact on all of us has been profound.
Over the past few days, we have spent time connecting with many of our staff and reflecting on how, as an organization, we can commit to speaking out against prejudice and injustice, supporting our communities as they seek to heal. There is a clear and continued call that we must do more. While we in no way claim to have the answers, we are listening, and we are taking a series of initial steps to remain steadfast in our words, actions, and commitments.
Home Base has stood as a beacon of hope for Veterans, Service-Members, and their families for more than a decade. In the coming days, weeks, months, and years beyond, we will seek the collective wisdom of our staff, hospital, and community leaders to help continue to develop a welcoming, caring, and supportive care environment for ALL veterans, families, and staff.
Collectively we can shine a very bright light on racism and drive this hate from our country, and we at Home Base are committed to empowering our staff and our greater Home Base community to:
LEARN
ACT
STAY ENGAGED
We encourage you to keep the dialogue open – so we can learn, grow, and help – and we welcome your feedback as we work to make meaningful progress together.
