Nearly 70 golfers have already signed up for the second annual Red Tail Hanscom FCU Charitable Foundation Golf Classic at the Red Tail Country Club in Devens, Massachusetts on September 26. The popularity of the event could be due to the scramble format, amazing prizes, or the fact that the funds raised benefit Home Base, a Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Program. Surely, however, the hard work of Hanscom FCU Charitable Foundation organizers is to be credited for the success.
In 2015, Hanscom FCUCF generously donated over $112,000 from both money raised at the first Golf Classic and from the organization itself. Chairman Paul Marotta explained that Home Base is a cause HFCUCF truly cares about.
“The Hanscom FCU Charitable Foundation was created to show our support for the community. A portion of our members are affected directly and daily by the invisible wounds of war, and we are thrilled to renew our support for Home Base. It is important for all of us to give back to those who have given so much to their country,” Marotta said.
The Classic’s entry fee includes a round of golf at the Red Tail Country, a continental breakfast, three hole-in-one prizes, contests, and an awards banquet. The sought-after prizes for straightest drive, closest to the pin and putting contests include $10,000 in cash, a set of Nike irons, and an Amazon Kindle Fire or $500 prepaid Visa card. The event will also feature raffle baskets, including two from Home Base.
Companies can also sponsor a hole for $500: the tournament will create a flag for the sponsor’s organization to be displayed on one of the 18 greens. Additionally, Hanscom FCU Charitable Foundation welcomes the donation of items to be used as prizes for attendees.
