Home Base staff were busy this winter, hosting memorable Adventure Series outings with military families, attending wreath laying ceremonies and meeting with local leaders to discuss the state and need of veterans’ mental health across the nation. November 16: U.S. Rep. Joe Kennedy III Visits Home Base
Our team had a great visit with Congressman Joe Kennedy III in November. He sat down with our team and toured Home Base’s new National Center of Excellence in the Charlestown Navy Yard.
December 14: Home Base rucks with Boston Children’s Hospital
Members of the Home Base team were honored to join the 164th Transportation Battalion of the Massachusetts Army National Guard, along with other members of the Marines and Air Force, in the 8th annual Toy Ruck March to Boston’s Children’s Hospital. The group distributed more than 3,000 toys to children undergoing treatment and their families and spread holiday cheer along the way.
December 15: Home Base Partners with Wreaths Across America to Honor Fallen Soldiers
This past December, Wreaths Across America coordinated ceremonies at more than 1,400 locations across the country to Remember and Honor our Veterans through the laying of Remembrance wreaths on the graves of our country’s fallen heroes and the act of saying the name aloud and saluting each and every Veteran. Our team was honored to be part of several ceremonies on Saturday at locations ranging from Arlington, VA to Bourne, MA.
January 6: Sugarbush Resort Welcomes Military Families for first Adventure Series Event of 2019
There’s “snow” place like a Home Base Adventure Series event in the winter! On January 6th families enjoyed a day on the slopes – and some fresh powder – courtesy of Sugarbush Resort. Attendees were treated to free ski and snowboarding lesson, lunch and the opportunity to meet other local military families. January 12: Home Base Southwest Florida Veterans Give Back in Community Event
A group of Home Base Southwest Florida Warrior Health & Fitness participants had the opportunity to attend Habitat for Humanity Colliers Veteran Build event in Naples, Florida. Local Veterans and Service Members rallied together to give back to another military families. Did you know there are more than 107,000 Veterans from all eras residing in Southwest Florida? Home Base is proud to be part of this community.
January 19: Run to Home Base Florida Welcomes Hundreds at JetBlue Park
More than 600 runners and walkers charged through the starting line of the 2019 Run to Home Base FL presented by Equity Resource Investments charity race. Funds raised support Home Base’s programs for Veterans and Military Families in Southwest Florida.
January 27: Boston Bruins Star Works Out with Warrior Health & Fitness Participants: Kevan Miller stopped by Home Base to lead Warrior Health & Fitness participants through a special workout at our state-of-the-art facility in Charlestown, MA. Veterans and Service Members enrolled in our 90-day Warrior Health & Fitness program receive FREE fitness evaluations, a tailored exercise program, yoga, mental skills coaching and most importantly, a new band of brothers and sisters.
