Supporters of Home Base throughout New England are stepping up to raise funds for the program by hosting golf tournaments, hair cut-a-thons, tea parties and many other activities in the community. Check out some of this month’s “Home Team” community events and find out where we will be next.

On Patriot Day, Sunday, Sept. 11, Colonel Matthew Kennedy of the MA Air National Guard and his wife Kerri Kennedy hosted a benefit tea party on the historic grounds of The Old Manse in Concord, MA, in support of Home Base. Veteran Outreach Coordinator Josh Egan spoke to the crowd of more than 70 about his own military background, his work at Home Base and the programs we offer.

Hanscom Federal Credit Union Charitable Foundation Hosts 2nd Annual Red Tail Classic and Raises $50,000 to Support Home Base
On Monday, September 26, The Hanscom FCU Charitable Foundation (HFCUCF) hosted the Red Tail Classic at Red Tail Golf Club in Devens, MA. Nearly 70 golfers came out in support of Home Base and those we serve. HFCU is a great champion of  Home Base, giving generously to Mission Gratitude as well as connecting us to larger organizations such as the Defense Credit Union Council, who chose Home Base as their ‘Showcase with a Purpose’ at this year’s Annual Conference. Participants capped off the event with an awards banquets and a raffle.

Sudbury for Wounded Warriors Hosts 4th Annual Drive Fore Our Troops Gold sww-golfTournament in Support of Home Base
On Monday, October 5, Home Base Executive Director, Brig. Gen. (ret.) Jack Hammond and Chief Operating Officer Michael Allard joined the Sudbury for Wounded Warriors team at their annual golf tournament. To date, the group has raised more than $100,000 to support Home Base and our mission to heal the Invisible Wounds of War.

A great burger for a great cause! Skip the bagged lunch on Thursday, October 20 and visit any Massachusetts Shake Shack location between 11 a.m and 10 p.m and 15% of your food purchase will benefit Home Base. All YOU have to do is show them this flyer!

Two Milton, MA residents are holding a Veterans Day Cut-A-Thon at various salons and shops across Massachusetts. Participating locations will be donating a portion of their proceeds from the day to Home Base to benefit Post-9/11 Veterans and Service Members. Learn more here.

hOMbase Yogathon: November 18, 2016yoga-benefit
Since 2012, the Home Base Yoga Benefit for Veterans has raised more than $70,000 in support of Home Base and the Service Members, Veterans and Families we serve. The event includes a yoga class taught by event creator Jacqui Bonwell and instructors Bill MacDonald and Danny Dwyer, a veteran from Easton who served in the Air Force, National Guard and Army. In addition to yoga instruction, the event includes live acoustic music, a guided meditation, a roll call and candle lighting in memory of veterans who lost their lives in service to their country.  Yoga, which is recognized for its benefits to physical and emotional health and well-being, is one of the many mind and body services offered to veterans through Home Base.
