Fantastic news on the Education front: Thanks to a grant from the Department of Defense through the Defense Suicide Prevention Office (DSPO), Home Base will continue to offer CME/CE/CEU certified on-line educational training to healthcare professionals, first responders, military families and community members free of charge.
The online, accredited training programs are provided via the Home Base Training Institute and are designed to help participants improve their understanding of Military culture and the impact of Military Service on Veterans and Military Families, and enable users to identify, assist and treat those who need care. Currently, the Training Institute offers 38 on-demand, free courses. Among those are five new online courses created with grant funding from the DSPO, which include content related to addressing substance use disorders with motivational interviewing, supporting survivors of suicide through postvention, treatments for opioid use disorders, and an online tool for Veterans with substance use called Vet Change.
The Training Institute’s new and improved learning management systems was designed with the end-user experience in mind. In addition to the new and modern look, users can browse all of the available courses are categorized by target audience: health professionals, first responders, military families and community members.
