Just in time for the 2018 Run to Home Base presented by New Balance, Boston Red Sox players Chris Sale, Mookie Betts and Dustin Pedroia have joined forces to launched a new initiative aimed at raising awareness of the invisible wounds affecting one-third of our returning Service Members. In the following PSA’s now airing on New England Sports Network (NESN), each player gives their reason for supporting Home Base’s mission and encourage fans to do the same. Check them out below!
From the TV screen to across the Nation, this year’s Run to Home Base will bring more than 2,000 runners and walkers to Fenway to support Home Base and the Military Families we serve.

“I think it’s important for people to not give up on their loved ones. Whether external or internal, we know that wounds need to be tended to – they don’t just fix themselves.” Meet Karen Belliveau, a Worcester, Massachusetts resident who participates in the Run to Home Base each summer with her daughter, Jodi. Belliveau was inspired to run after her son, a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, had difficulties transitioning home after a deployment to Afghanistan.
