Please join us from 7-8PM on Sunday, November 11, 2018, for the Home Base Southwest Florida Veterans Day Special: a 60-minute, commercial-free television event highlighting the multifaceted aspects of Home Base. This telethon will air on  ABC Channel 7 in Florida.   The broadcast aims to educate the Southwest Florida community at large about the invisible wounds of war and focused on patients who bravely share their story in hopes of reducing stigma.

Though Home Base is headquartered in New England, ALL funds raised by the Florida Veterans Day broadcast will remain in the community, allowing the program to continue providing life-saving care to a region more than 130,000 Veterans call home. Home Base’s Southwest Florida Program was created to empower local Veterans and Warriors to take control of their physical well-being, provide tools to help manage stress and provide complex care for those in need of treatment for the Invisible Wounds. What began as a health and fitness program for Veterans has transformed into something with even more impact: a community. To date, Home Base has served more than 700 Veterans and Family Members.

This year’s Southwest Florida telethon will be hosted by ABC7 News Anchor Jeff Butera.

Meet Our Host

After covering news in almost every part of Florida, Jeff Butera is happy to now make his home in the Fort Myers area, joining ABC7 as the station’s main anchor. He anchors the afternoon and evening newscasts. He joined the station in April 2012.

Before joining ABC7, Jeff worked all across the Sunshine State. He’s reported for stations in Gainesville, Jacksonville and Tampa, and has covered stories from the Panhandle to the Florida Keys. He also reported for stations in Huntsville, Ala., and Phoenix, Ariz.

Jeff grew up in Orlando and went to high school literally across the street from Universal Studios. He’s also a proud Gator, having graduated summa cum laude from the University of Florida.
